Welcome to Sheffield City Swimming Club. We are Sheffield’s oldest competitive swimming club formed back in 1962. Our members range from 8 years of age to masters swimmers and number around 150. The club is run by 10 committee members with a host of other volunteers. |
|
|
The club is split into 4 squads A, B & C and Youth & Masters squads, each having its own coach and train primarily at Heeley baths but we also use Ponds Forge, Graves and Spring’s swimming pools. We promote friendship and teamspirit and swim "one for all and all for one" The club is affiliated with the Amateur Swimming Association and was awarded Swim 21 and Sport England Club Mark status in 2003, which was revalidated most recently in 2011. |

Andrew Gould swam in the City of Birmingham Open over the Easter weekend and had his most successful meet ever. Competing in a staggering 21 swims, 10 heats, 10 finals and 1 HDW over 3 days Andy scooped 5 golds, 1 silver, 3 bronze and 2 finalist medals. He also recorded 7 PBs, despite swimming the final races straight after each other, knocking just over 15 seconds off his 400 Free and 10 seconds off his 200 Free. Andy also took half a second off his 200 Back time and is awaiting ratification of a new British Record in the S10 category.
To round off the weekend he was awarded the Les Hayes Trophy for the best performance by a disability swimmer and the Andy Jackson Trophy for Iron Man of the Meet for most swims. His tally of 54points from a possible 66 secured the Top Boy award for the 13+ age group and placed Sheffield City 13th of 52 on the Top Club leader board.
Well done Andy. |

| Judge One Course |

| We are considering running a training course for the Judge One qualification. This is the basic qualification required by the ASA to be able to work at licenced meets. The role involves timekeeping and judging turns & finishes. Once qualified you will be able to volunteer at any meet you wish to. Qualified as a timekeeper under the old system? Consider taking the judging part of this course; the timekeeper qualification is being phased out by the ASA. |
